Role Information
Description:

Position: Director of Ministry and Theological Training Services
Organisation: Queensland Baptists

Are you passionate about theological education and ministry training? Do you have a strong background in leadership, management and strategic planning? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Queensland Baptists (QB) team as the Director of Ministry and Theological Training Services (MaTTS).

As the Director of Ministry and Theological Training Services, you will be responsible for:

  • delivering a suite of contemporary and relevant ministry education and training programs and resources through accredited and informal means, that address the training needs of people ministering in QB churches and agencies;
  • establishing and nurturing communication channels between MaTTS and QB churches and agencies, that create genuine relational engagement;
  • facilitating the nurturing and leadership of a staff team of educators, trainers and support staff who are excellent in their roles and carry out their duties in Christ-like ways.

The role may also include some teaching responsibilities in the appropriate training group for the successful applicant.

To be successful in this role, you will have a deep understanding of Christian theology and the practical skills necessary for effective ministry. You will have a proven track record of leadership, team management, visionary and strategic planning, with the ability to collaborate with others to achieve shared goals. You will also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to connect with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

The MaTTS group oversees three training bodies that serve the QB movement: Malyon Theological College (higher-education degree programs); Malyon Vocational Training (VET accredited training); and QBITS (informal and non-accredited training and development). This is a new role that oversees these groups, and presents an exciting opportunity to create an integrated learning sector for QB that brings the best of higher education degree programs and components, the accredited practical training and application of the VET sector, and the flexibility and immersion of non-accredited programs and learning that many of us have benefitted from in our local church contexts and wider.

If you are passionate about theological education and ministry development and have the skills and experience necessary to excel in this role, we encourage you to apply. We can offer the successful applicant a competitive salary, professional development opportunities, and the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of pastors and leaders throughout Queensland.

To apply, please request an application pack from Bronwyn Burgess (bronwyn.burgess@qb.org.au). Applications close May 26, 2023.
